Invitation to Apply - The third step in a general skilled migration application
Once you have submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI), you may receive an invitation to apply for a General Skilled Migration visa.
Which Expressions of Interest gets an invitation to apply?
SkillSelect ranks each Expression of Interest based on the assessment, across a broad range of occupations. SkillSelect then extends invitations to the highest ranking applicants. This usually happens on a monthly basis.
Can I see my ranking?
No, you are not able to see your ranking.
What is the purpose of an invitation to apply?
An invitation to apply identifies the person is receiving an invitation to apply. Then it does the following:
- Tells you under which subclass you are being invited to apply.
- Gives you the time frame within which you have to make your application.
- An invitation to apply may also inform you of any additional information that you should include with your application.
Where can I get an indication of who has been invited to apply?
SkillSelect publishes a report on its website after each month's round which shows the test marks with the lowest scores.
The Department also publishes a report after each monthly invitation round with the lowest-scoring test mark on an EOI across each visa class that was invited to apply.
Who can help with my visa application?
There are many horror stories of people parting with large sums of money to 'immigration agents', only to end up disappointed and with no visa.
The golden rule? Only deal with licensed immigration agents.
Intergate Emigration has three fully licensed immigration agents. You can view their details on our website.
You must proceed with caution when presented with a DIBP number. Agents outside of Australia has DIBP numbers for administrative purposes only. A DIBP number is not an endorsements from the Australian government and it does not mean the agent is registered.
In short, if you cannot find an agent on the MARA website, do not deal with them.
